Nonprofit organizations must use all types of platforms and mediums to increase their awareness and promote their mission. In this wonderful world of social networking and through the use of social media it is becoming easier. It is vital to try out new mediums at virtually little to no cost. I believe that videos can be an important and needed tool to increase any organization. Let me give you something to ponder.

Think about Internet video four years ago. What did people use to share videos? Really, how much video were you watching in 2004? Because there really wasn’t anything in terms of online video. YouTube didn’t appear until 2005. In the large scheme of things, online video is very recent and still volatile - YouTube is the only stable player, and it still can’t generate enough revenue. Organizations can use videos to tell the public what their mission is and show what they do. It makes it more personal.

There is also UstreamTv. This is a free service in which any organization can have a live streaming show to promote what they do whether it is daily, weekly, or bi-monthly. It is vital to be able to increase awareness of a struggling or not, nonprofit organization. By doing so, they can reach a whole different group of people who social network together and can relay the organizations mission throughout their networks. In the end it’s all about awareness especially for nonprofit organizations.

Feedback helps a nonprofit improve their services and programs. By creating a feedback platform they can allow their clients and the public of any news that is happening in the organization. It also allows the clients and public to leave their own feedback, too. It is an important part that sometimes can be overlooked, and may decrease clientele, donors, and traffic from website.

There are many different services an organization can use for their feedback platform. Some of them may charge a fee, but some very popular ones are free and are easy to use. It may depend on your organizations budget and need to improve feedback, in deciding which one is best for your organization to use. For example, IdeaScale is one site that allows an organization to interact by using feedback it is similar to digg, which people can rate and leave feedback and the organization can respond by leaving their own feedback. They offer a different plans including free. This tool can be very beneficial for any organization to improve their web presence, products, and services they provide.
